Water Adventures


Numerous lakes, rivers, mountains and unsurpassed wilderness provide a backdrop for the veritable playground of outdoor recreation in the Barriere and District area. You can enjoy water skiing, canoeing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, boating and even scuba diving! Some of the major lakes in the area are:

  • Adams Lake - Bush Creek Campground is situated in Adams Lake Provincial Park. It is popular for fishing, canoeing, cycling, hiking and scuba diving. As few facilities are available, visitors should be self-sufficient campers.

  • Dunn Lake - The long, deep, scenic lake offers fishing opportunities for rainbow trout, lake trout, bull trout and the odd Kokanee. Water skiing, boating, canoeing – recreation camp site with boat launch and Dunn Lake Resort.

  • East Barriere Lake - is one of the last undeveloped lakes in the interior of BC. Its’ shallow bay and warm waters make water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, kayaking, swimming, canoeing and fishing very popular activities.

  • North Barriere Lake – swim, fish, boat or water ski. Boat rental available at North Barriere Lake Resort. Large recreation campsite nearby.

  • TaWeel Lake – is a large picturesque lake, connected with trail networks to smaller lakes. The area is noted for fishing, hiking, and nature appreciation in a wilderness setting. Visitors must be self-sufficient as there are no camping or day-use facilities available.
