Valemount and area provide a true mountain fishing experience. Whether you chose to fish one of the many lakes or rivers, you will find yourself carried away by the vastness and untouched wilderness surrounding you.

Some of the most popular fishing spots include:

  • Camp Creek: 11 km south of Valemount. Fish for Bull Trout and Rocky Mountain Whitefish

  • Canoe River: Located 8 km south of Valemount on Highway 5. Fish for white fish, rainbow trout and bull trout.

  • Cedarside Lake Regional Park: 18.5 ha park located 3km from Valemount on little Cranberry Lake. The park includes picnic areas, outhouses and a beach area. Fish for brook trout.
 
  • Kinbasket Lake: Access along the Canoe Forest Road and West Lake Road. Facilities include a boat launch. Fish for rainbow trout, bull trout and whitefish.

  • McLennan River: Located near Tete Jaune Cache. Fish for rainbow and bull trout and whitefish.

  • Moose Lake: Located in Mount Robson Park, with boat launch at the east end of the lake. Fish for lake char, rainbow trout, kokanee, bull trout, whitefish and ling cod.

  • Swift Creek: Accessible from Highway 5 at the Valemount intersection. Fish for bull trout, whitefish and rainbows. An excellent stream to observe spawning Chinook Salmon during August and September.

  • Yellowhead-Lucerne Lake: Located in the east end of Mount Robson Park, 7 km west of the Jasper National Park boundary. Facilities include Parks Branch campsite and boat launch, with picnic site on the lake. Fish for pan sized rainbow trout, Rocky Mountain whitefish and lake char.
 


 

Whitewater Rafting/Canoeing/Kayaking


Here is your chance to play on some of BC’s finest waterways, including the Mighty Fraser River. Take a wild ride in a whitewater raft or if you prefer a slower pace with the family, a float trip that offers opportunities for amazing wildlife viewing. Canoeing and Kayaking are spectacular on McLennan River of Kinbasket Lake. Or explore a maze of channels and calm open water areas on Cranberry Marsh.
